Jerry Jay's Page
Jerry Jay is a name that was given to Jerry in 1983. Before that he was just known as Jerry. The original puppet that I used was a Jerry Mahoney facsimile that I bought in a Mervyn's department store in Fremont. I still have the original to this day. In the history of Jerry Jay he acquired his last name when a reporter asked me what it was. I made it up on the spot because it rhymed with mine. He has had one paint over and was used to case a mold to be duplicated but I never got the copy. Jerry is a perpetual 8 years old in puppet life but in real life he is almost 30 years old. He was originally carved to my specifications by puppet carver (now retired) Craig Lovik in Paso Robles, California. When I described Jerry over the phone to Craig I told him that I wanted him to have all of the physical attributes of the most superlative men of the time. Frank Sinatra, Superman, and Elvis. I also told him that I wanted him to have a present smile. Jerry by design has blue eyes, black hair, and a strong jaw line. I have created a personality for him that I hope you find outstanding. My first words to him when I picked him up at Craig Lovik's house were. "I'm going to make you a star". God have given me a purpose to share his love through Jerry and even though I am now 50 years old and live in hospice with advanced HIV I will continue to share my gift.
