MY UPDATE PAGE
March 3, 2006. Friday. I woke up at 8:30am. Lydia showed up for her new time at 9am. She ran my bath and took the handicap placard down to her car. She helped me bathe and then get dressed. She left at 10am. As she was going to get the handicap placard my Dad knocked on the door. He asked if he could use the handicap placard. I told him Lydia had it. He went to get it from Lydia. They met in the hallway and then Lydia came back for her purse. After Lydia left my Dad hung around and I showed him a film that he was in back in 1995 that he hadn't seen. We exported it into a Quicktime file so I could make him a DVD of the raw footage. After that we headed to Hayward to a 1:15pm appointment.
We stopped for lunch in Hayward. We shared a smoked beef BBQ lunch in a very famous old time restaurant called Emil's Villa. Dad had fond memories of this place but it was my first time. It was very popular. After lunch we headed down the street to our appointment.
We arrived at 1pm and waited for just a few minutes. We started a couple of minutes early. We were there to work on my relationship with my Dad. We spent just over an hour and left about 2:35pm.
On the way back to the city we stopped at Starbucks. I got a Chai tea latte. Dad drove me back to San Francisco. When we arrived back we had to wait for a school bus that was taking up the handicap parking spot in front of the building. Once we got parked Dad wanted me to burn him a DVD of the raw footage that we has been working on earlier. We went upstairs and I started the process. I had only burned DVD's before yesterday that were a maximum 22 minutes long. His piece was about an hour. The burn process seemed to take forever. I introduced Dad to Gelato Green Tea Ice Cream. He liked it. We ate what I had left. While the DVD continued to burn Dad ofered to go get some more ice cream from the store. He did. When he returned the DVD still wasn't done. We waited and chatted for a while.
In the mean time I had set up an appointment to do an interview with a guy looking for work as an IHSS worker. His name was Ed. He arrived at 6pm for the interview. We chatted. He spoke Russian/English. He seemed like a calm relaxed person but I was a little concerned when I asked him about his previous IHSS jobs. When I asked him why he left he seemed to not give me a straight answer. I thanked him for coming and the continued waiting for the burned DVD to finish with Dad. He finally got tired of waiting and had a long drive ahead of him so he decided to leave. He asked me to mail the DVD to him. I said OK. He headed out
I watched Law and Order and just hung out for the rest of the evening until 10pm. I was tired so I went to bed early.
I had a quality day again today. It was great spending the day with my Dad.
That's it for today.
