MY UPDATE PAGE
March 10, 2006. Friday. I got up at 8am. I checked the computer for email. Lydia showed up at 9:10am. She ran the bath and took the handicap placard down to her car. We did the regular routine and she left. I had used my concentrator all night. I slept a little better but was having a hard time breathing to start the day.
After Lydia left I waited for Kathleen the Hospice by the Bay Chaplin. She arrived at 10:10am. She started off reading the updates since the last time she was here. I found out from Kathleen that there is a new service called vigil service. It addresses the very issue that I am facing. I will need people to sit with me when I come to the end. They now have trained people that can do that. I hope that when I get to that point that they will provide some. I know it will take a lot of hours to just wait when it gets to the end. After she read them we talked. She left at 11:15am.
I got a couple of phone calls. I talked to Shari Carlson for a few minutes. I called my sister Nanc. She was about to play pool. I heard from my Dad. He wanted to invite me to lunch on Sunday but I already have an appointment with Howard Meehan for Sunday lunch. I talked to Jose a few times. I also got a call from Andrea from IHSS. She set up an appointment for Tuesday for reevaluation.
My friends Justin and Simon arrived around noon. I fixed my famous Steve's spaghetti. We chatted and had a nice lunch. I used my round mirror as a table top and put it on my little table with a table cloth. It was a great improvisation for a table. They helped by washing the dishes when we were done. It was a nice lunch.
After they left it was 2pm. I was tired so I laid down. I went on line and worked for a while. At 3:00pm the first delivery of Project Open Hand arrived at the door. I invited him in but he said he couldn't come in. I had to get up. It was very difficult today. I took a couple of minutes to get to the door. I got the food and he left. I then called the office and asked if it could be arranged to have the delivery open the door and put it on the table. They said ok and will start doing it that way on Monday.
It was a nice day. The sun was out all day but I didn't get out to see it. I was told it was cold outside and I just decided to stay in.
I watched Law and Order and typed this update.
