MY UPDATE PAGE
March 13, 2006. Monday. I got up at 8am. I stayed in bed and just hung out until Lydia arrived. Dad called to check in. Then Lydia arrived at 9:18am. As she was arriving Maurice called. Lydia came in and I told Maurice to come at 10am. I took my bath and didn't feel like getting dressed right then. Lydia left.
Maurice arrived at 10:08am but didn't get upstairs until 10:20am. He started reading the updates then he read the new power of attorney medical form. In it I requested that I die at my apartment. He said he needed a DNR for me to die here. He gave me a form. I agreed to the DNR only for my apartment. I later read the form and it says that you can not alter or amend the form in any way. It looks like I will need to see a lawyer to get this resolved. Maurice left after he checked my blood pressure and heart rate. He listened to my lungs and said that they were very diminished in the lowers but ok in the uppers and one mid. My blood pressure is normal and my heart rate is too. He left and said he would check back with me on Thursday.
After he left I went on line and checked stuff out. Maria Elena arrived at 1:30pm with lunch from the Chinese restaurant. She had forgot her cell phone at home. Her daughter called looking for her before she arrived. I had her call her daughter when she arrived.
Stan called while she was here and said he would be here at 3pm. I tried to go on the Apple computer but could not get on. I somehow have done something that has made the second hard drive inaccessible. I was frustrated.
The Open hand people are supposed to deliver between 2:30pm and 4pm. I was now 3:10pm and no Stan and no Open hand. I was having a bad day. Stan arrived and came up. Maria Elena was just finishing laundry and so Stan had to move pillows to sit down. Maria Elena finished and left. I was getting more frustrated. Still no Open hand. I only have one day a week to get out of this apartment. Stan is my only regular volunteer that is exclusively to drive me on errands. He only comes once a week. I wanted to get out. It has been raining a lot lately and it was a nice day today. Stan is only available on Monday from 3pm to 5pm. I was in a dilemma. If I left I would not get the meal but if I didn't leave soon Stan would have to go. Just then the Open hand arrived at 3:45pm. Stan and I left. I was wound up.
Nobody had arrived on time. Everyone was late. The computer didn't work and I needed to get out.
Stan was very kind. He took me to the Starbucks and I got a Chai Tea Latte Grande. He asked me what I would like to do. I didn't know. He suggested we go somewhere where I could calm down. I agreed. I choose to go to watch the waterfall at Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park. Stan drove there and parked. I sat and looked out the window at the waterfall for over a half hour and talked to Stan. I calmed down. We headed home and Stan dropped me off.
I came upstairs. I warmed up the Open hand meal and ate it at 5:45pm. Matt arrived to help file. Finally someone arrived on time. Matt came in at 6pm. Yea. My day was about to change. He came in and then went to the store to get me some more Gelato Green Tea Ice Cream downstairs. He came back and he worked on filing. He got everything filed and then we watched Law and Order until 8pm. He left.
I continued watching TV and typed this update. I was having a difficult time breathing for most of the day. It got better after a BM later in the day. I am finding that the food in my stomach is in direct relation to my breathing. I have to eat light and eat food that is easily digested. It seems that if I eat food that passes thru my system faster is better. I had some sautéed spinach with butter and lemon last night. I remember that spinach passes thru the system faster. Anyway I am feeling a little better right now but still have the concentrated oxygen on at level 3 liters/minute. The tube has been the same one since I got this system and I think that I am supposed to change it but don't remember when.
I didn't mention that at the end of the weekend I amassed a whopping 10 million in additional chips. My current total on the play money poker is 181 million.
