MY UPDATE PAGE
March 18, 2006. Saturday. I got up at 5am and was having a hard time breathing. I started off taking some morphine. I put 5 drops under my tongue. I was able to sleep for 2 hours. I woke up more of the green gunk in my lungs. I then coughed for probably an hour. I kept putting it in tissues. Eventually I got most of it out for the time being. I then went back to sleep for another hour. Then I got up at 8am. I took a bath and got dressed by myself. I was done at about 9:45am. Howard Meehan was due to arrive between 10am and 10:30am. I hoped he would arrive early because my Dad was coming at noon.
Howard arrived at 10:30am. We chatted for a while then Howard went to the store downstairs and got me a Chai Tea Latte. After he returned we talked some more and then he left at noon as my Dad arrived.
Dad came in and we chatted. I then cooked us some of my spaghetti with meat sauce. We just stayed in and hung out. He had wanted to see some of the tapes of some things that he had videoed and had transferred to DVD. We had the duplication store send the tapes by cab to my house. Dad went downstairs and paid the cab fare and then we watched them. We chatted and watched TV until 3pm. He had to go so he could catch a train back home. It was a nice visit and I am glad he came to see me.
After Dad left I fell asleep in the big blue chair. I woke up and made a shrimp, avocado, and celery salad. I watched Law and Order and typed this update.
It was a nice day. Another quality day.
My breathing is still the same. I am ok as long as I am still. When I move in the least even to the bathroom I get winded. It takes me a couple of minutes to adjust back to calm and normal. I have adjusted the oxygen from a 3liters/minute to 4liters/minute. I get concerned when I start gasping for air. I talked to Jean at Blue Shield the other day and she said because of my lung condition they would probably put an air tube down my throat if I called 911. I would not have quality of life at that point if that were to happen. Jean also told me that if that happened that again because of my lungs I would not be able to remove it and breath safely. It is just a matter of time until it gets to this level. I know this is not good news but I am aware of the upcoming events that will most likely happen.
That's it for tonight.
Steve
