MY UPDATE PAGE
March 20, 2006. Monday. I started off taking some morphine at 3am. I put 5 drops under my tongue. I was able to sleep for 2 hours. I woke up more of the green gunk in my lungs. . I then went back to sleep for another couple of hours. Then I got up at 9:20am when Lydia arrived. She ran my bath and then helped me dress. She left.
Maurice arrived and we talked and did checks until about 11:30am. He said my lungs were slowly getting worse. He reinforced all of my thoughts as to the progress of the decline. I explained to him that I was now taking morphine once every 4 hours and Ativan as well. He told me of another morphine time release pill. I told him I would stay on this for a while.
Maurice left and Maria Elena arrive at 1:30pm. She brought lunch from the Chinese restaurant and I warmed it up and ate it. She stayed until about 3pm. Stan arrived as Maria Elena was leaving.
Stan came in and we talked about the vigil program at the end of my life. I had apparently made a mistake thinking that Stan would coordinate the schedule. I now think that we will have to organize it ourselves. There is no vigil program in effect at Hospice by the Bay. They are talking about it but it is not in operation at this time. I have had several people already volunteer to sit with me at the end. Maria Elena has offered to sleep over in the big blue chair Monday thru Friday. Simone has volunteered. Cheryl has said she would like to. Matt has said he would do it. I still need many more. I will need someone to be here with me full time at the end. Anyway Stan and I went to Costco and got the
eye doctor to squeeze us in between appointment. They also gave me a
discount. They said my new eye glasses that will replace my scratched ones
will be here by Thursday. Stan got me a slice of pizza and a sprite and
then we came home.
Matt arrived at 6pm but I asked him to wait in the reading room for us. We arrived back at 7pm. Stan said goodbye and Matt said hello. Matt filed the bills and papers and then we watched the end of an episode of Law and Order.
I watched Law and Order by myself after that and typed this update.
